The library of Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy is a library for higher education that provides services for students, professors, researchers, PhD students, physicians and resident physicians. Students and graduates of other universities may also use this library.
The library is located on 7 Vasile Alecsandri Street, but there are also 48 book repositories in the university departments and hospital wards.
The book stock of the library includes 278.448 items – electronic and print books, journals and audiovisual resources in Romanian, English and French. Over 2400 medical ebooks are available on Elsevier / Science Direct, Springer and Wiley.
The article databases subscribed to through ANELiS Plus are Science Direct, SpringerLink, Proquest, Wiley-Blackwell, Proquest, Ebsco Academic Search Complete, Clarivate Analytics Web of Science, Scopus and Ovid. Starting from 2019, Reaxys and Embase have also been added. The databases are accessible from university computers or from home, through mobile access, by using the E-learning user ID and password.
The library provides:
- 2 reading rooms with self-serving facilities and open access shelf for students and teachers;
- 3 study rooms for individual use with total capacity of 125 people;
- 1 e-mail/Internet room for students, equipped with 5 computers with Intranet and Internet access. The online catalogue LIBERTY 5 and the subscribed academic databases can be accessed here.
- Wi-Fi internet access.
Through collaboration with libraries of medical schools in Romania and abroad, interlibrary loan is also available.
Library services are available with a library card, issued at the beginning of the first academic year and valid for the entire study period. The library card is reconfirmed each year and it is non-transferable. Users will be required to produce their library card when entering the library and at the request of the librarians.
